Just picked up this Cattaraugus 225Q. I wonder if anybody is familiar with this style handle? Thanks.

Reshaped by whoever it originally belonged to.
I thought the same thing at first...but started to doubt it because of the workmanship looking more like factory quality and the age of the knife looking like early production. Do you think it is possible that it was a limited run early in the production and was changed to the handle that we normally see? Here is another photo.

I’m moving this back to the top hoping for some additional input. I also included a photo of the tang stamp which is much different than what we see with the normal 225Q pattern which leads me to believe that this could be a early limited design run. Thanks for taking another look.

Stacked leather on a stick tang. Leather washers are stacked on the tang, glued in place, and shaped after it sets.

Here is a newer looking Schrade to compare. Factory finger notches were not uncommon.
