Hi all, I have a lot of collecting interests. I am now retired. I have been going through boxes and boxes of stuff. I realized I have too much stuff and wonder what to do with it. The only collection I have, that I know a lot about is my U.S. stamp collection, 50 years worth. My kids aren't interested in any of them.

I have a bunch of knives that I picked up over the years and I don't want to just give them away and would like some suggestions. I know some are worth something and several are from a knife display I bought from a closed hardware store in 1990, most are new.
Anyway what do you think? Any idea appreciated.

I don't have any idea of value and don't want to learn everything there is to know about knives, this whole collection is going bye bye. I haven't looked at them or picked up anymore for several years now.
How would I go about listing them here or ebay? What info is needed in the listing and how much do you sale them for?

There's a fee to sell here as well as on ebay.
You may want to research as best possible the value of your knives. Identify the model knives you have and scour the net to find clues as to some idea of value. Google will turn up pretty much anything that's out there - including information from here and ebay.
Ultimately, a well presented auction on ebay will often fetch something close to their value. Less well known but interesting items may find a better market here.

This depends on how many you've got. If there's 100 or less, you could probably put them all in a picture (or just do closeups of the ones that you think are valuable) with a listing of what each one is from left-right, and people here would probably tell you what they are. You could probably find someone willing to give you info on all of them in exchange for a piece or two, if you wanted.
People here know a lot, and it'd be a lot easier to figure out what they are and sell the good ones individually than try to get rid of the whole collection as a set.

I don't know about selling on here, but ebay's pretty straightforward. They charge a small amount for selling stuff, all you need is a credit card to set it all up.

Good luck, lemme know if I can help.

Ebay has gained in popularity and become a big "electronic garage sale." Check around your community..nearest big town probably has a business that works full-time as an ebay store. All you need to do is haul your things down to them, and they will take care of everything for you, and when sold, you'll recieve a check for your profits. They have youngsters who are computer savy and research these items to find the best price and method to advertise and make the sale. Also, they take care of the bills and shipping. Makes it very easy for you. They do all the photography and listings..you just sit back and relax. This sounds like your best choice of options if you don't want to get involved for yourself....if no business in the area doing this for you...chances are you have a neighbor who is actively involved, and may enjoy helping you for a similiar commission. Good luck....and don't worry....guns and knives have always been HOT resale items. The easiest thing to sell next to tools. :)

Good point.
I'd be willing to help too. I'm already online alllll day, might as well have something productive to do :P

Let us know, and don't mind the "pack of dogs on a meatwagon" mentality you might see here... :D
