Meh, it's still pretty slow here. I was actually getting skunked again for the first few hours and thought about coming in...but then I thought, "what will I tell the guys on blade forums?? I can't go in empty handed again!" Haha. Anyway, I pulled out a 5 oz butterfly jig and started dancing it off the bottom and finally got a little interest. Nothing to brag about but its lunch and dinner for me and my girl...beats a sharp stick in the eye!

All cleaned with the dragonfly salt/pacific salt combo.

Man, I admire your patience. Fishing looks fun but time consuming.

I clicked on the thread thinking "Salted fish! Yum!" then I saw who the OP was.

Never had triggerfish. My favorite is probably red snapper. That being said, I probably ate more pink mouth grunts than any other fish. It's definitely a card board fish, but a little extra seasoning goes a long way.

Yeah, I'm kind of a caveman, ill eat just about anything I catch. It's kind of a pain cleaning the little grouper and triggers, but man, they sure make for good eating!

Surfing Gringo can I ask what you do for a living down there? How do you find time to fish so much! Great catch! Grouper is a delicacy in NYC restaurants.

Never had triggerfish, but I guess that doesn't surprise me, i'm not too keen on seafood. I do however like Mako Shark.

That stuff is delicious.

Nice catch by the way!

I escape through your threads, whilst stuck in the urban jungle. Thankfully, I have some off time soon for hunting/camping. Keep 'em comin

Gringo,

How has the salt held up in those conditions? I was thinking about picking one up down the line.. I like the all black/PE version, but was wondering if you prefer full serrations in water environments? I would think that full serrations would be more useful in water or w/ fish. Thanks

So did you get yourself a spyderco? What was it you were contemplating, a Millie? Like it?

Enjoy the camping. I haven't done that in years, but it's good stuff. I used to enjoy going solo. Should be a good time with the new knife!

I ordered a Millie last week, should arrive Wednesday. I was browsing at my local dealer yesterday and found that he had 4 para II's in stock so I jumped on one as well (after not finding any available online). Hands down one of the best knives I own - and this is coming from a BM nut :) Love the ergos, leaf shape, and the steel.

I'm sure the larger Millie will be just as good, an 'am excited for some real use this fall!

I don't think I am going to be able to kill this knife. I'm gonna try, but I just don't see it happening. It's tough as nails and apparently it's just NOT going to rust no matter what I do with it. You've gotta remember that I surf launch so me and my knife are soaked in salt water all day. The knife just doesn't rust. Period.

The question about serrations is a bit more complicated. If I had only one fishing knife it would probably be a plain edge. But I've got one of each and I use both of them a lot. I use the pe more in the kayak actually and the se more when I'm cleaning fish. This is the first fully serrated knife I have owned and I do enjoy it.

So here's the bottom line. You should try a se knife for sure. You should try a "salt" knife for sure. Serrated H1 has MUCH better edge retention than pe H1 (actually its arguably the best serrated edge spyderco makes). Any questions? I think you know what you have to do. ;)

The "real use" is the best part about owning spyderco knives.
