Just a little update. Remember the village of Ellenville where once upon a time there existed a company called Schrade. As we all know nothing is independent of what goes on around it. Well Ellenville used to have two fast food franchises a Mcdonalds and a Burger King now they have one. It seems Burger King for some reason had been losing money. They had 22 employees two got jobs at Mcdonalds. Could one factor be related to the other I don't know? What do you think? By the way many of these fast food franchises have been exploring a new big selling market it is called CHINA. They use Chinese employees. It is tough for an american kid to commute that far everyday to pick up a summer job for some college money. So you see one ripple rides into the next.
One stone will not topple a great building but great buildings, institutions and even countrys will topple if enough of its foundation is removed piece by piece. Oh well there is still Eastern Correctional facility . Which as in many cases of prisons, ( in New York State ). is the major employer of the local populace. It makes quite a statment when the largest industry in an area is the warehousing of societys failures. LT
PS I worked many years at Eastern and that place helped me raise 5 kids. Some of my fellow officers had difficulty in fulfilling there duties impartially do to the nature of the crimes some of these individuals were convicted of . I used to say that without them I might very well have been forced to to commit a crime to feed those same 5 kids. Or as I used to like to phrase it. There crimes were my bread and butter.
