Yesterday, I was working on a flat roof and using a Leatherman Core to rip out some roofing material prior to patching. Unfortunately, the Core and my hands were covered with roof cement by the end of the work. Not wanting to make more of a mess, I carried the Core (pliers open) over to the roof hatch. I slipped on a patch of ice and while off balance, all the tools deployed partially from the plier handles.

I did some experimenting later on and found that with enough force, the inner tools will unfold by themselves. The Core has been a great tool for me at work but I hope to remember not to walk around with the tool open:rolleyes:

All the while, I thought the Core already solved the "clumping" issues.

Although I have a different tool, that is exactly what my old Leatherman SuperTool does. This is a very bad side-effect of the "clumping" issues with the in-handle tools, and is very well dangerous. I almost cut my fingers on the serrated blade this way. =\

This is why I like the LM Charge better since there is an interlock which holds the knives in place when the pliers are deployed. =)
