Buyer be ware. 380049283873 looks to be a counterfeit Schrade made Buck 301. This knife has had grooves added to the bolsters to make it appear to be a much rarer than it actually is.

Will, you may well be correct, but why do you think the grooves have been added? If so, it would that was done some time ago, as the patina in the grooves seems to match that on the rest of the bolsters.
 
I saw that one also, and will is correct, it is a counterfeit.

Here's why:

1. Only a Schrade 301 first version has grooved bolsters...the knife in that photo is not a Schrade made one, the frame is a Camillus made one.

2. It has a "301" model number on it....Schrade made ones will not have a model number on a 301, the model number was not added until the Camillus models and even some early ones of those do not have it.

3. The tang stamp is wrong. Schrade models have "BUCK/Made In/USA", not "BUCK/301"

I believe that if they were there original, the stamp on the blade should be MADE in USA. No model number.
 
Yep, you are both correct and I should know this; I just didn't look closely enough. That can be an expensive shortcoming!

I've seen a few of these fakes coming out of Kentucky lately. Is the demand enough to make it worth the work involved in making the fake?

Another scam, they've taken the COA from one knife and are trying to pass it off on an import.
