cavebear and timberline.

Does anyone know what the older Schrade cavebear and timberline where made from? Someone recently told me they thought 1095. Does anyone know if this is correct? I have a Timberline from probabally the 70s with a broken tip and a cavebear from the 80s with a partially melted handle. Was thinking about rework them and making them users since they have seen rough days already.

If the blades have a grayish to black patina more than likley 1095, if Stainless usually Shrade+ is stamped in ricasso, that being said nothing is to definitive without some pictures, this would really help to identify the knives and possibly material.

I know they are non stainless. Some pitting and grayish color. I will try to post pictures later. I'm having problems with photobucket.

The Timberline from 1977. Most of the early OT were carbon. I say most because with Schrade... Ya never know.
