Diamond plates/wheels are often recommended for high carbide (e.g. hi vanadium, tungsten, chromium) knife blades, but am wondering how many of you have been sharpening high carbide steel on cubic boron nitride electroplated wheels like the ones sold by V.Kraichuk in Australia or K.Rizza of woodturnerswonder in Georgia. It would be a shame to scrape off CBN from these wheels, but it seems to be the convenient and reliable way to sharpen modern super-hardened supersteels like Maxamet, k390. What has been your experience overall and opinion on using CBN for high carbide blades (which is not recommended by the makers)?
