cedar fatwood??

When I lived in WA we collected some sap filled wood from Western Red Cedars and never had any luck with it. It looked like fatwood but didn't light up very well at all.

thanks fer answering, was beginning to think either no one here had clue, or couldnt care less. peace

yeah pine is hard to beat bc its so full of sap. thats the key there. however dry cedar is great for fire wood to help keep the bugs off and it gives a nice smell to the fire (my 2 cents)

thanks everyone. spend lot of time in the midwest(missouri n kansas) where cedar grows rampant and is considered invasive. have to travel to southern missouri or arkansas to start finding pine. where i spend the rest of my time in the pnw there is, of course, ample spruce, fir, pine etc. and when i get to hike there usually able to find fatwood. sometimes even ship to kansas city for use in that part of the country. often while camping i end up giving away fatwood as its amazing how many people have never even heard of it. just got to thinking maybe cedar was another source. reckon i need to be harvesting a bit more when west so i dont run out when in kc. thanks again. peace
