I've had a nice chunk of Red Cedar sitting around for a few years. I got it when my congregation cleared land for a new meeting hall.

This seemed like a pretty good use for some of it.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Spooky, those are the best strikers I've ever used.
And they have 6 edges you can strike on. (Including the tips).
Very nice design.

I have several more in progress. I'm trying all different handle shapes to see what works best.

I think the triangular ones are going to be really nice...

Very nice. I'll bet they smell pretty nice too:) What are you using to form the eyelets?

very nice work!
can you tell me what your using to hold the
rod into the handle?
some kind of epoxy or something?

Yes they do. And i have a big bag full of fine cedar shavings from all the carving. Now THAT smells awesome.

Those are 1/4" eyelets like you would use for a Kydex sheath. I drill a 1/4" hole and countersink it slightly so they'll go in smoothly. The I tap them home with a rubber mallet.

Thanks, yes they are glued in.
