I started planning a dagger build a couple of years ago and looked to Coop’s 70-page sticky thread for inspiration.

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/sharpbycoops-gallery-of-handmade-knives.612884/

I scanned through the pages, quickly grabbing any images of daggers that caught my attention. I also collected a few images from Bruce Bump’s website.

There are pieces from many different makers in no particular order.

Looking through the images as a PowerPoint presentation, it is amazing to me the number of variations found in each element of the dagger. First the blade profile, the material, the grind etc., then the guard, the handle and pommel. It is amazing the different takes on the classic fluted handle with wire inlay.

When we think of daggers we think of symmetry, yet many of these pieces break that symmetry in interesting ways, whether it is through the blade, the guard, handle, or pommel.

Anyway, here are the pictures to enjoy. Please be sure to look at the originals in Coop’s thread and feel free to add any others that might be included.

BIG WOW! In a different time and place I'd have me one of those on my belt :)
I need to look again to find a favorite

There is a lot of talent and a lot of hours of work represented there.
Yes, the level of talent is inspiring, but also daunting. I could easily be discouraged knowing that my build won't fit in this thread. Instead I will try to do my best, not compromise on any step if all it needs is more elbow grease, and hopefully get some satisfaction if all goes well.

Great display, Richard!

Daggers are captivating because of their singularly sinister intention: They stab flesh in one direction, through protective shielding. YIKES!

This said, there are unlimited design themes on a pointy symmetrical blade shape with a guard. Witness ^^ above!

Good thread!
