Was just wondering if any of you guys ever heard of a celebrity carrying a traditional pocket knife? I read in a article somewhere that after The Edge, Anthony Hopkins carried a knife like the one Brian Little made for the movie. Anyone ever heard of any others?

My guess is that they are few and far between. For me putting a knife in my pocket is part of a routine that I do without much thought. I would guess that if I spent as much time flying the friendly skies as most celebrities do, that I would gradually move away from a knife as part of EDC routine. But, you never know! Im looking forward to what others may know...

Many celebrities are knife collectors, I wouldn't put it past them to own some old Cases or Remington's, maybe some Boses.

In the first episode of The Walking Dead, Morgan carries a Buck 110. He holds it up to Rick's face before he cuts him free and tells him to look at it and see how sharp it is then proceeds to say he'll kill him with it if he tries anything.

I doubt Brad Pitt's or Johnny Depp's flying experience is anything like yours and mine. They can probably carry anything they like.

“I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I don’t do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

~Shane~

Yikes!! Wrong movie there CombatJJ. No one in the movie "Shane" ever said anything close to that.

John Bernard Books would be rolling over after that one...

Perhaps CJJ's name is Shane?...

As for the thread topic, I have to think they are out there, with the Tom Selleck example being the only one I have ever actually seen. After James Spader got to use that little Tony Bose gem in Lincoln I can't imagine him letting go of it so easily :)

I have found references to celebrities who collect knives...most notably Angelina Jolie and Nicholas Cage. I also found reference to Steven Tyler traveling with a switchblade. I wonder of collecting translates into carrying for those guys? My guess is that they must from time to time. I'm also not sure if any of them are specifically collecting traditionals, but I am sure a few customs and like sneak in from time to time.

Maybe. But then attributing such a well known quote to one's self would be much worse, and seem to be more than just a simple mistake. I am thinking he just got his movies mixed up.

There almost has to be some kind of bugaboo in Hollywood about the personal carrying of knives as throughout the years actors rarely ever seem to have one outside of their movie roles. Plenty of knives have shown up over the decades in movies, but they just don't show up on a personal level.

In the old movies like the western genres, knives were pretty popular and were used by anyone from the sheriff cutting down the wrong guy being hanged, to the cowboy cutting his tobacco chew and everything in between. Seems these days knives only make an appearance as murder weapons in countless plots of stabbing murders (especially on TV) and an occasional sighting on one of the "survival" shows.

There have been unconfirmed sightings of James Spader at Wilford Works.

OK... I'm sorry... that's pretty dang funny! Like your Dad, I love my westerns, but I watch so many of them that I get them confused myself. As it turned out to be, I figured it was just a misfire.

Looking at your Dad's choice of names, I wold certainly say you got the best of the two! :D
