"Cell Phone" data only devices and plans for your computer? Virgin Mobile or ...?

I'm looking at the OVERDRIVE PRO™ 3G/4G MOBILE HOTSPOT with the $35 a month 2.5Gb unlimited data plan (256Kbs after 2.5Gb). The MIFI 2200 is more expesive but, I can't seem to tell why or what features it may have the Overdrive doesn't.

Do these devices work well with Tablets, Laptops, etc.? Does anyone have experience with these good or bad? Any recomendations or words of wisdom (yeah, I know about cable modems, broadband, etc but, it's not an option where I live).
 
If you have an Android phone with a data plan, just install FoxFi. It turns your phone into a mobile hotspot without paying any extra per month, and you don't have to buy any more equipment.
