Just recently I have gotten a bunch of text messages showing obscure email addresses to go to meetsumbodyforu.com or similar.

All of them are simple INCOMING spam messages that cost me .15¢ each. (Verizon)

I use text never. Only when someone I know sends me a note. I could care. Can I turn it off?

It appears I could get slammed with a hundred of these and who knows.

Thanks for any tips.

Im on verizon. Just call CS & say you dont want to get any texts./ End of probelm.

Call your cell phone provider and ask them to disable incoming text messages.

or call verizon and dispute the problem texts.

ive always had good luck with their cs. if you really have no desire for the text messaging, turn it off completely.

Thanks. Will do!

every once in a while i get a spam text but it's probably only once every six months or something like that- in other words just because u get one doesn't mean u will get fifty

I just started getting some, too... Went to Sprint and told them to disable text messaging, incoming and outgoing, and credit me back for the charges...

I'm too archaic to see much use for texting - you wanna talk with me? Call me!

You wanna write me? Email me! :D

I wonder what the cell companies are going to do when it actually starts to get out of hand? More bogus legislation?

Same problem here. Started getting spam text messages at .20 each. I called my provider and had texting disabled. That could add up if you started getting a lot of those messages.

In Botswana, SouthAfrica, Nigeria, Cameroon, only the sender was charged. They caught onto this some 8 years back and stopped charging for incoming. I do alot of texting. People in other countries and time zones, people who may be driving or too busy to talk. Typically I do 20-30/day and 1hr on the phone.
