This is for real. Do it to add your cell phone # to the National Do-Not-Call list. It took me about 60 seconds.

In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls on your cell phones.

Call this number from your cell phone (1-888-382-1222). It is the national Do Not Call list. It blocks your number for 5 years. You must call from your cell phone. It took me just one minute to do. You may want to distribute this information to your friends and family.

FOR THE LIST TO GET HACKED AND YOUR NUMBER SOLD ALL OVER THE WORLD! I might get about five calls a day, and I mess with the telemarketers, it's a lot of fun.

gotta say that when this was first published in the media (some months ago) that the cell providing companies are NOT going to sell those numbers to anyone. Yes, it's okay to put your number on that list, but at this point it is my understanding that at least Sprint, ATT, Cingular and Verizon are not releasing cell phone numbers. Maybe a I need to look into this again...

Why???

If i don't recognize the number or it shows as caller ID unavailalbe, i don't answer.

I think you're right. I've got T-mobile.

The day I get marketing calls is the day I switch my service away from Tmobile...

I've had it for about 6 or 7 years (It was VoiceStream before) yeah, I'm one of their oldest customers. They give me bigtime discounts on new phones now and then. Anyway, in that time I've gotten TWO soliciting phone calls and I lit into both people telling them it was a cell phone and to never call me at that number again; they were both like, "Of course, sir. We're sorry!" and that was that. I think sometimes it happens sometimes on accident. I added to the list anyway - I wasn't going to take a chance because I like my provider, phone and number.

I've gotten one telemarketer call on my cell phone. I said if they ever called back, I'd hunt them down and do bad things. Besides, I registers my cell number on the other do-not-call list when it was new since you could register four or five numbers at once.

In the UK we have the Telphone Preference Service. On that for my home phone. Works well here hardly ever get cold called now except for pre recorded ones. If I do get called just mentioning I am on the TPS means they appologise quick and hang up as they can get prosocuted :D
