Alright there gentlemen, I've got a small problem for the brain-trust to solve. Either that or ya dirty bastids can give your thoughts and opinions! Anywho, I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, also known as the worlds smallest tablet. For impact protection I've got it living in a Otterbox Defender, which rocks for impact. Carry is in a Maxped CP-M. Now on to the problem. Any bit of sand, dust or grit gets sucked into the case. the surface of the screen is already pretty decently scratched from sand. This is a major problem while beach fishing. I have a full on otterbox to put it in, but it seems like a pretty poor solution, as I can't use it.
Solutions Gentlemen! should I get an Aloksak to fit? (I'm not sure how much I trust the zip on them, they seem really easy to open) Sealline makes a solid looking device carrier. Is there anything else? i don't have access to any normal ziplock bags that I'd trust. I figure the easiest way to keep it sand proof is to waterproof it as well, which is great for fishing.

a major problem while beach fishing . . . solutions Gentlemen!

1 - don't take your tablet to the beach, or
2 - place it in a gallon zip-loc.

I like #1 better.

Sand is a pretty pesky adversary. It almost always wins. JMO. Good luck!

I would gladly live entirely without a phone, but I'm told that is not an option. (its not really a tablet, just a monster phone.) takes a 4x7 aloksak to hold it.

since I don't want a computer with me at all times and just want a basic phone ,I carry one of these and don't worry about protection for it

It has survived : being use to hold back water when the stem came out of a valve
being dropped 20 ft out of a scissor lift
being thrown at a feral cat:D
I just rinse it off under a faucet clean it . Mine is a Sonim XP3.20 Quest Pro . My only complaint is I wish it had a better camera on it

I'd get a small Mac Sack so you have room for some other stuff in there. I've got a few and they rock. Super lightweight.

I've got some screen protectors on the way, cheap knockoffs, but the same type I've gotten for other phones. I didn't know invisible shield did full device skins. not that it matters now, the phone body is really scratched up, at least the screen is still 99%
No one has used the Sealline device bags? I found another aloksak in my gear (scavenged from a FAK thats not currently in use) so I'll give that a run and see what goes. Its a small nuisance in the grand scheme, but I'll be ending up out in the rain quite a lot more now that summer is arriving in the south end of the planet.

Those remind me of the Nokia flip phone a coworker owns. He swam in the ocean for an hour a week after he got it, with the phone in his pocket. 5 years later, it's still going strong :p

I recently was at the AT&T store and they had an iphone in a fish tank with sand and water in it and they had the number posted so you could call or text the phone and see that even though it was in water/sand it would still work. The case was called a lifeproof case. pretty impressive for as little as they were. not sure if they make them for your phone but i would look into that.

The Lifeproof is for iPhone only unfortunately. Don't know if there is currently anything on the market for the Galaxy Nexus as far as waterproof goes.

Edit:

Check out the iOttie. Looks pretty interesting. Just a waterproof skin.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I think the iOttie is an alright theory, but I don't think it would work very well for me in practice. Used the aloksak yesterday, and got a pretty decent downpour, and the phone stayed sand free (unlike everything else). fish weren't on the bite, so the day was only a partial success.
