I have to chime in also, great job on the carving.I think it could be called a Dirk as they were sword tips that were broken. Seems Dirks came in a lot of sizes, but one thing you can surley say is that it is beautiful.

Did you carve the metal too, or maybe carve it in wax and cast it?

I have the entire sequence on my Facebook Profile. Follow this link to see how. Yes I applied the same technique on the pommel. It was a bit difficult because the Dremmel bit I was using was too big. I now have a smaller one.

You sure make it look easy! I bet there's more to laying out that tape then meets the eye. Is there any math to how you select the width of the tape, how many strips and the spacing, or do you just eyeball it?

Here is the sheath as it stands. I will make a baldric style leather belt so it hangs over the shoulder rather than on a belt loop.
