If I know the Massachusetts legislature, bans will follow

I seriously doubt any bans on knives will follow this incident. It`s not like Larry Bird or Robert Parrish was stabbed. He`s expected to recover. I don`t think this will result in any new laws.

They didn't even tell you what kind of knife it was. I hate that.

Whenever I hear about a stabbing I want to know what kind of knife was used. Of course people always look at me funny when I ask...

Funny, but I thought the same thing, "I wonder what kind of knife?" Let me tell you, if I cut someone eleven times with a SOCOM fresh off the Edge-Pro, the guy wouldn't go to the emergency room "under his own power." It looks like even street thugs don't take pride in their work, anymore. I remember when hoods were scary and gas was $0.31 a gallon. Somebody stop me! I sound like my dad!--OKG

Remember when it was a "Saturday Night Special" and folks had a good chance of surviving a wound from a cheap .22 cal. or .32 cal. revolver? Well, the GCA or 1968 banned the importation of such and so we got the 9mm "assault weapon" (sic) that is the weapon to end society as we know it. Then they banned large capacity magazines and the hoplophobes were horrified to learn that, if you didn't need a huge grip for that large capacity magazine, then you could make a much more concealable pistol. Well, if they ban knives, I wonder what the "Law of Unintended Consequences" will bring next?

Sorry, folks get stabbed almost on a daily basis... (as well as shot, hit and run...) Just because an upcoming basketball player gets it, doesn't mean a "ban" is coming.

We don't even know what the weapon was. What if the instrument were a screwdriver...

I agree with Hugh Fuller. Government seeks quick, easy fixes, and street scum always pick the path of least resistance. I have been the 'victim' of two 'attempted' muggings. I broke one guy's nose, and the second guy saw my wife 'rip the velcro' on her fanny pack. While that's good for my team, do you think Al Gore is going to let me successfully resist? I just might say 'no' to his weapons policy, or his health care whims or his tax garnishments. I think the liberals' real agenda was not looking like idiots when faced with a rag-tag group at Waco. At 50, I'm done obeying stupid laws.--OKG

The ironic thing is that Mass has some of the least restrictive knife laws of the states I visit regularly. The only no-nos are balistic knives, automatics, and daggers/dirks (anything with a double edge). Everyplace else I seem to go has hard to understand length or concealed/open carry policies.

It is not the fall that kills you. It is the realization that "yes, you did something that stupid."

Arrest Warrants in Pierce Stabbing
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Filed at 10:37 p.m. ET Sept. 27, 2000

BOSTON (AP) -- Two of the three men wanted by police in the stabbing of Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce surrendered Wednesday night.

Tony McCrary, 31, also known as Tony Hurston, and Trevor Watson, 34, appeared at a Boston police station at 7:30 p.m. with their lawyers. They are to be arraigned Thursday morning.

Pierce, stabbed multiple times at a night club early Monday, was listed in good condition Wednesday at New England Medical Center as he recovered from wounds to his face, neck and back. He could be released as early as Friday.

A warrant had been issued for Hurston, Watson and William Ragland, 28, charging all three with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Hurston was alleged to have wielded a bottle, while Watson and Ragland were alleged to have used a knife.

Hurston's attorney, John Swomley, said Hurston was working in New York when he learned of the warrant against him. Swomley also represents members of Made Men, a rap group that some witnesses reportedly told police might have had a connection to the stabbing.

Police were still looking for Ragland on Wednesday night.

Police Deputy Supt. Margaret O'Malley would not comment on whether the suspects had ties to the rap group, and members of the group have denied any involvement.

Pierce, 22, had surgery Monday to repair his damaged lung. Officials at the New England Medical Center termed the other stab wounds to Pierce's face, neck and back as mostly superficial. Pierce was able to walk into the hospital's emergency after being driven there by friends.

The 6-foot-7, 220-pound Pierce averaged 19.5 points and ranked second in the NBA in steals with 2.08 a game. Pierce, an All-American at Kansas, was drafted in the first round in 1998 after his junior season.

OK, I've refrained from commenting on these sorts of immature threads, but this one really p*sses me off!
