centering problems??

I just recently got a PM2 and it did not come with proper centering, it is actually pretty bad. I have tried loosening everything and tightening back up which did nothing. I read a couple threads about tightening pivot, lock bar then bottom screws and still same results. The only way I can get it to have decent centering is if i take a folded up business card and jam it in there then tighten. When I do that, I can get centering to about 40/60. Is there any other tricks to this or am I going to have to live with that as best centering?

The only trick would be sending it into Spyderco or return it to where you bought it.

I am up in Canada so I would like to avoid sending it back if possible. Would they fix a knife that has been taken apart?
Lol, uh oh.
I thought you just loosened some screws? Anyhow here's a pretty good you tube video on proper assembly. Hope it helps.

Unless the blade is rubbing the handle, centering has no effect on functionality. Just use that thing.

•Repairs to your knife performed by any source other than Spyderco Inc. unconditionally voids the knife’s warranty.
•Spyderco’s warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, misuse, loss, improper handling, alterations, accident, neglect, disassembly, or improper sharpening.

I did loosen the screws, there was loctite on them. My guess is that this is how they "determine" if the knife was taken apart.

I know...I am just being OCD about it. I have been using it as is and it works great.

If nobody has any other ideas, I will just live with it.

A LOT of PM2s have poor centering. Most of the ones I have seen are visibly off center when they come from the box, but like someone said it doesn't affect functionality unless it rubs. I'm guessing the compression lock makes it harder to mass produce knives with perfectly centered blades. I didn't even know there were YouTube videos about trying to get them centered.

Here's something else that could help maybe? Possible the bushings aren't perfectly flat against the liner?

Interesting video skyhorse^

I decided to take the whole knife apart since my warranty is probably voided from loosening screws/I didn't want to send it south anyways. Upon closer inspection I noticed a tiny piece of loc tite inside the scale for the pivot screw. I took a blade and scraped that piece out and now it is 100% centered with the business card trick.

Congrats Kyle! :) The Para2 is such a well thought out design and imho one of the best folders bar none.
I had a feeling it was likely something simple. Normally like Rev said, best thing to do is send it in for repair but you being in Canada I do understand what a hassle that is.Anyhow enjoy that knife Kyle. I like mine so much that I'll likely be purchasing a second one just for back up. :D

I bet if you really decided to send it to Spyderco they would still fix it. They are a great company :)

Glad you got it centered
