Hi,
I was just wondering exactly how the centofante securelock works. I have'nt had the chance to actually handle one. Is it similiar to the lock found on the Gerber Covert? I gather that the Securelock works in conjuction with a standard liner lock.

Thanks

The SecureLok works off of the blade itself, instead of off the liner as with the InterLock safety. After the blade of the C25 or C50 Centofante models is opened and the SecureLok is engaged, the safety acts as a second lock, wedging the blade in the open position. Therefore, lock failure is averted.

With the Interlock, it wedges underneath the liner lock bar, preventing it from being depressed. I haven't seen how the newer Interlocks work, but I have a sample from the first production run of the Coverts where the safety was that sliding button mounted in the scale opposite the clip. Hope this helps.

It resembles the bolt action Gerbers from some time ago and the newer ones currently being produced by Meyerco. Or at least in appearance. Am I on to something Dexter?

Hi Nakano - you got the right idea

IMO it resembles the newer REKAT knives that have the lock release set into the scale.

Thanx for the help Dex. The Securlok is a Centofante invention. The tang of the blade contains a pin that is perpendicular to the blade. The pin rotates with the tang and with the blade in the open position, the pin in the blade is adjacent to the stop pin. The scale has a very accurate slot cut into the scale which permits the pin to rotate. The slide on the front side scale connects to a square rod (with very preceise taper) that slides in between the pin in the blade and the stop pin. Though the Centofante Clipit is not likely to defeat (I'll personnally stack this linerlock up against the worlds best production or custom linerlocks), The securLok just adds that extra confidence that many need because of the many poor linerlocks being built today.

This model has nested stop pins, nested liners and nested securelock, all built into scales just .125 thick. I believe that this knife IS the state of the art in linerlocks today. Just my personal and professional opinion. Of course I'm biased, you should check it out yourself.

Frank Centofante has been making custom knives for 27 years. He has been the president of the Guild or on the board for nearly half of those years. He is Spyderco's quality consultant and is in our Golden facility each month and personally overseas the production of his model. those of you that know Frank know he is a no BS straight shooter with a very refined skill. These models demonstrate that skill. Spyderco is pleased to have the opportunity to work with Frank Centofante.
