My understanding is that this knife has been discontinued. Most of the Centofante's I see for sale are ATS-34. In the Y2K catalog the C50G is listed as being CPM440V. Is this a misprint or were some actually produced with this steel? I also see that the large model has a black pocket clip mounted up high on the handle like the C25 model. Most of the large Centofante's that I've seen have had the clip mounted below the pivot pin. When did Spyderco change the clip mounting location?

Hi CAK. The Centofante C50 (larger one) does in fact have a CPM blade. Though the knife has been discontinued, we still have many part and will probably keep trickling the model as a discontinued piece for a while. The new Vesuvius replaced the older styles.

Centofantes have always been tip down low profile clips. Different positions for different models.
