Anyone have a recommendation for South or Central American brands that make nice modern folders? I’d like to see what’s out there other than North American and European brands.

For factory brands all I can recall currently is Condor , who makes the Krakatora frame lock and also a friction folder. There were a couple of other factory makers from Brazil and Argentina on the US market but haven't seen them around in a long time.

You won't find much but Chinese folders in the average hardware store in Central America. I haven't spent any time in Brazil but there used to be a couple of local brands. Nothing fancy, just working blades

I don't own one, but I think the Boker Arbolito Gemini Folders are made in Argentina.

(careful as there are also less expensive Boker "plus" Gemini that are made in China.)

GTC Knives - Another high end custom knife maker out of Brazil. Very interesting stuff, but most of it is too rich for my blood. If you'd like an idea about his designs check out the WingmanEDC ASA. It's a recent production knife based on one of his (Gustavo Cecchini) designs.

Arno Bernard has classy folders and fixed blades.
From what I remember from my geography classes, South Africa is not part of South America....
