maybe this is a strange request, but do any Spyderco owners live in Central NJ. i want to get my hands on one just to see how i like the spyderco Thumb hole. I have my reservations about it.

Effinger's Sporting Goods store http://www.efingersports.com/ in Bound Brook usually has a few Spydercos. You pro'lly won't buy it there though, unless you like paying MSRP prices. Also, Harry's Army/Navy http://www.harrys.com/ in Robbinsville also carries Spyderco, amongst others. Harry's actualy has a nice knife collection.

Most of my reservations about the hole were based on aethestics. I still don't their looks and have been selling them off.

However, I found they worked excellently and never failed. Spyderco makes a high quality product, and an opening hole in the blade is a must have item on my features list. I believe that if the styling is ok, you'll find the use of the opening hole will soon become a mandatory item for you.

Have a brand new Steel slab Spydie Police with a plain edge. Still has the protective plastic on the handle. Nice knife, just not my cup of tea.

I own some Spydercos yet still prefer a thumbstud. I find the stud keeps your thumb a bit farther away from the blade during deployment. For me, on a lockback that matters more than a liner type lock. I like the Spydie Hole but if I had to choose between same knives I'd take the knife with a thumbstud.
