The show is happening on July 29,30,31 at the same location in Austin. For a small show this one is loaded with class and talent. The makers that you may have heard of that will be there are as follows: M.S. Jerome Anders, J.S.Reggie Barker, M.S. Bailey Bradshaw, J.S. Robert Blasingame, M.S. James Cook, Gary Crowder, M.S. James Crowel, J.S. Chester Darcey, M.S. Harvey Dean, J.S. Richard Epting, M.S. John Fitch, J.S. Jason Howell, M.S. Ray Kirk, Don Morrow, J.B. Moore, Bill Ruple, Johnny Stout, and J.S. Brion Tomberlin. There will be a cutting demo on Saturday morning and several other demos on Saturday. This show is usually a great opportunity to pick up a knife from from some makers with a pretty long waiting list. I would like to remind everyone about the fitch/Crowell colaboration knife and the not yet complete Bradshaw/Ruple folder that will be auctioned off at the show on Saturday night. For details on the auction and a more complete list of table holders check out texknife.com.

That's an impressive lineup to be sure.

Here's the Fitch / Crowell:

I can't wait to see the Bradshaw / Ruple - sounds like a great team for a folder.

Here is the "Brad-Rupple" folder ...pre-engraving. I will engrave the knife with raised gold vine scrolls on all four bolsters. I made the steel, sent it to Bill, and he sent this wonderfull trapper back with very nice mammoth scales. The action is nice and crisp with Bill's typicly awesome filework.

I will post another pic when it is engraved.

The show in Austin is a lot of fun. Last year we all went out to eat and listened to live music under a huge oak tree behind the resteraunt. The music sceen in Austin is very distinctive and top notch. We all had a blast. I plan to do something similar this year too. This is also one of those shows that allows you to find some killer knives without having to bolt to a makers table right when the doors open. There is a nice and relaxed atmosphere, so much different than Blade and many of the "Mega shows".

That is a really cool looking folder as is. I cant wait to see after engraving!! The bid on that one is already at $700.00. I wonder who the lucky owner of this one will be? Lets see some more knives that will be coming to the show.

That's a beauty Bailey - looking forward to the engraving. I'd love to see some more show knives as well. Anyone that has difficulty posting pics please feel free to send them to me and I'll post 'em up.

Roger

I made this split back whittler for the show. ATS-34 blades and backsprings with blacklip pearl scales.
Thanks, Don

Beautiful knife Don!

Your knife and the Bailey/Bill knife has me drooling. (Not to mention the Fitch/Crowell) colab.

Y'all have succeeded in making this (for the time being) Northeasterner jealous.

Have a great time.

I will have this integral at the show and a few more. I have been trying to get better at them and this is one of the last ones.

Now I really am drooling.

Stunning work Ray!

I also would like to mention that the Guinns will be set up at the show displaying their miniature collection. A large collection of small knives :D

Ray, that's a sweet integral. I've been working on those too. Any tips?
Do you have the Uncle Al integral grinder?
Adam.

Adam,
Yes, I do have an Uncle Al's integral grinder. The main thing is to adjust it so that the platten is perfectly even with the wheel. Otherwise, you get a high-low spot when grinding. It does make it easier but it is still hard to keep the full tangs lined up with the blade. :) Most of it is practice and don't get in a hurry. It is used mostly for straightening up the bevels and a little flattening.
I really enjoy making them, even if they are more difficult. As I learn more about them, I will start to do a little more to them and try to find the limits. Did you watch Chris Derringer at the Batson Hammer in? I also looked at some of the knives he brought for the show and tell pieces. I still have a way to go to reach his level. If you have any questions and I can help, just email me and I will try to help you.
