Central Utah campout and hiking trip in August, open invite!

I'm planning a big camping/hiking trip for August. I wrote info in this thread then realized that I would get more hits talking about it here.

The idea is to hike up Canal Canyon which is South of Spring City in Central Utah to the top of Spring City canyon, Camp along skyline drive, do some day hikes around the area then head home the afternoon of the 2nd or 3rd day. Info about the hike and area is in the thread mentioned above, please check it out.

If the weather permits, a friend and I will be hiking the Canal Canyon trail this Saturday. We want to get some good exercise and check out the trail before the big trip in August.

Anyone is interested in joining us for the August trip or even this Saturdays trip. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with a friend. The weekend of August 9th, 10th, and 11th works best for him. He wants to do 3 days, pack in on Thursday, spend Friday exploring the top of the mountain, then pack out Saturday. So thats what I'm planning on for now.

Depending on work schedule Im game, how are fires doing down there? Up here it is just one after a dam nother. I was planning on getting out this weekend but then alpine canyon goes up in flames and they evacuated every canyon near it. So I decided to stay in the valley and smoke some meats. Did 16lbs of pulled pork for a party yesterday.

Keep us in the loop on this thread to what occurs and Ill see what I can do for this. Ill be bringing my HH mod4 hammock and a few other goodies. Thanks for the heads up and still giving many time to schedule this in with a month notice.

From here it looks as though the fires are out. It's been raining and sprinkling off all day which cleared up all the smoke. If there are fires close by we can't tell do to all the storm clouds. It's been pretty nice today. All these fires have been pretty crazy haven't they? Glad you guys are okay. 16 pounds of pork, sounds fun. Make it Beef and I'd ask to join you. Am alergic to pork, but enjoy!!

Most of the time I post about trips a week or two in advance and almost no one ever shows up. Hope a 5 week notice helps. Will definantly keep everyone posted. Thanks!
