Some friends and I here in Provo are putting together a campout down in Central Utah in September. Anyone from the Cantina/Bladeforums is welcome to come.

Here are our tentative plans:

When: September 11th and 12th
Where: Huntington Reservoir up Fairview canyon along Highway UT31
Activities: Hiking, Mountain Biking, Swimming, Camping, boating?, Fishing, games, dutch Oven Goodness!

Anyone interested in coming? It's going to be a blast!! BTW I'll update this thread as more information becomes avaliable and plans are finalized.

I've been wanting to try out your famous dutch over cooking for like 7 years, Heber. I wish I could make it. Sounds like an absolute blast:thumbup:

You and your wife should take a second vacation this year and come camping with me and other friends. I'll make it worth your while. ;)

Thanks Ryan. good luck with the job search.

Those of us heading up this trip talked about it and we came up with a good menu for the trip:

Friday Dinner: Dutch Oven Chili and Corn bread
Saturday Breakfast: Eggs, Chicken Sausage, fruit, oatmeal

I might be going up to the lake Thursday evening to setup camp early and hang out by the lake. If I do Thursday dinner will be Dutch Oven Chicken soup and Peach Cobbler. Friday breakfast and lunch is fend for your self.

Been doing some price checking online and looks like I can afford to buy a 3 to 4 person raft for the trip. Huntington Reservoir is very calm and perfect for rafts, canoe, Kayak, and other small boats. Plus it easier to get stuff to the back side by boat then it is to walk it around.

Wanted to let everyone know that we are T-Minus 5:50 and counting. Going to be leaving for the Huntington Res campout around 4:15pm Mountain Daylight time today and coming back about the same time tomorrow.

Got my gear packed and will start on the Kitchen stuff in a little while. Foods ready, just got to get it packed.

Will be bringing a folder (still have not desided which one), SOG Powerlock, Kershaw Echo (4" fixed blade hunting knife), 9" Bowie (SOG Tigershark, BK9 or Kabar Heavy Bowie, have not desided which), a Khukri or two and 2 Machetes that I just made sheaths for. Oh yeah, Might bring a couple hawks along and maybe my 25# Compound bow for the fun of it. For gear I'm packing light but as far as bladed tools, I'm going heavy. :D Am planning to buy a small tripod for my camera (We wore out my 50 year old one I took last year) so I can get plenty of group/camp pictures and pictures of the night sky. It's so clear there you can see so many stars and I really want pictures of the Milky way.

Dinner will be around 7:30pm and consist of Tinfoil dinners and Chips. Breakfast , lunch and other meals are fend for your self. Looks like there will be 8 people for dinner. 5 guys and 3 girls are coming. Friday we plan to setup camp, make dinner and eat it, do a little exploring/hiking and some star gazzing. Saturday will be filled with swimming for those brave enough to swim in a mountain lake (think 40 degree water), hiking and playing around camp. I'll be dropped off at my mom's house on the way home and spend Saturday evening till Tuesday evening with her. Can't wait. Anyways, I'll post a bunch of pictures and a story or two after I get back next week. Hope you all have as good a weekend as I will,
