Hey Folks,

The Central Va hammer-in will be held at The Small Country Campground in Louisa Virginia on June 26 and 27th. Bring your bathing suits, your hiking boots, and your fishing poles :) . I have reserved the pavillion for the w/e. The fee for the pavillion is $50 but will be waved if we stay at the campground. Deb and I do plan on staying there. We've decided to make a vacation of it , so we'll be there the week prior. If you do decide to stay at the campground ,tell Bill Small you are with the "blacksmith group". Lets get a roster going of folks who will be there.

Attendies will be:

Mark and Deb Williams
peter nap (Don)
Alan Folts
Tommy
Brian Goode - Got married cant make it....wus
Larry Nowicki
Ed Wilson(?)
Darren Ellis
Pam (Knife Lady)
Jones Bros?

Things to bring:

Show and tell items
Forge and anvil and any other manner of making supplies
Cutting comp knife (bring some rope if ya got it)
Trade items
Throwing Knife
Throwing Hawk
*Open to suggestion

I've updated the attendies list from the original thread. I hope that as many forumites as possible can make it. We may have some guests from the Central Virginia Blacksmiths Guild show up and teach us a few things as well. Should be a great time and a great opportunity to finally meet one another face-to-face.

I feel like Johny Anvilseed :D

I see that J.Neilson voted in the poll on the other thread a a "For Demos Vote" Does that mean you'll be there J.?

Please dont feel that just because you dont forge , that you cant attend. Come and learn and you can teach me how to use a grinder.

Now that we have a definate time and place. feel free to provide some input as to what you would like to see or take place.

Any idea as to what kind of electric will be available.
My grinder is 220.
Mybuffer is 110.
Forge is hand cranke.
I can demo the cordwrap if any one is interested.

Hey Mark, sound like a great idea so far. I am hoping to make it. Would love to get as much of this kind of stuff in this summer as possible. How bout we have a cutting comp? Had a ball playing at IG's. Not so much a "competative thing" as testing our blades and seeing how they do. It was a lot of fun.
Thanks for getting this started,
Ed

Hey Larry,

I got a call from Bill Small, He said there is a 220 outlet about 100 ft from the pavillion. There is no plug on the outlet but he will install whatever kind of plug we need.

Should we plan on an extension cord to the pavillion or set up another tent or something at the outlet???

Either way,

I have a 10x10' canopy that we can use. What type plug do we need?

I been working all night so when I get up later I'll send a picture. I also have one of those stand up accordion type tents I could bring. It has 2 sides for protection if needed.

30 days to go. Really looking forward to hammering again. I've made some great friends at the Trackrock hammer-in and hope to do the same at this one. Please feel free to bring your spouses , girlfriends etc. I havent located any 1" rope yet so please keep your eye's open for some.

Hi guys
Is the invatation open to everone? I live in woodbridge VA, thats about 30 miles outside of DC. I would like to come down and watch some knives get made.

Sure wish I could make it to the hammer-in, guys! Sooooo close, but already have plans...:(

Best of luck to all the comp cutters!

Mont. Co. - not that far - close enough for this hammer-in...makes all the more painful...:(

Sounds like you guys are going to have a great time!

Three more weeks!!! Still looking foreward to this thing. Going to be fun.
