Cerakote for blades?

Alright, seeking some input. I've got a pair of Casbah's in black and blue, respectively, and I'd love to color match the blades to the handles. Will Cerakote/Gunkote hold up on knife blades? I know Benchmade uses DLC for its 'black' coating, but Cerakote/Gunkote/XYZkote is available in many more colors. If it wouldn't work, what might?

Thanks in advance!

I have seen it done. Nutn fancy would always cerakote his stuff and it seemed to hold up alright

Josh REK Knives REK Knives has cerakoted a bunch of them. They look great and hold up well from what I know. Not as well as actual DLC, but certainly better than a lot of the lesser coatings.

I had an older Cold Steel who's coating would start coming off if you looked at it funny. I have to imagine the Cerakote will hold up better than that.

I've chipped, scratched off, and otherwise ruined DLC coatings in sections of a knife before. My personal preference is no coating as a scratched up knife with no coating at all looks a lot better than a beat up coating.

Yes, cerakote has more colors (DLC only comes in black) but DLC is much more durable than cerakote. In my experience DLC has resisted scratches without showing it whereas a regular blade would have scratched up. Satin blades are the worst for getting scratches but stonewashes hold up well. The nice thing about DLC is that you can stonewash under the coating and it will show through.

Nice! Neither of the Casbah's see much pocket time, but I just think the blue one would look great with an equally blue blade. I'll have to run by my local Coatings place and see what kind of witchcraft they can work up. I wonder why they can't tint DLC?
