cerakoting food safe?

is cerakoting food safe?

I've been cerakoting food for ages. No problems so far.

In all seriousness, Cerakote hasn't undergone any food safety tests. You could say "it's just ceramic", but we also said about Teflon pans "it's just PTFE" for a few decades and it turned out residual unreacted carcinogenic PFOA in the coatings was probably harming people. Will Cerakote leech chemicals into your food? Nobody's bothered to find out.

Some specific DLC and TiCN coatings have been certified foodsafe, but those aren't the same as Cerakote.

If your cerakote is coming off on food that you're cutting, I would worry more about what that food is going to do to your insides.

I wouldnt worry if you use cerakoted knife for food prep etc .
but if you gonna eat cerakote itself then you probably have a problem .
it was designed for firearms not spoons.
