Im sure this topic has been discussed but i was wanting to ask if anybody has or has attempted to cerakote a survive!.. i love the finish on the blades but i was wondering if cerakote would stick or if it would look strange or uneven. Also, i dont really understand what cerakote is, so if anyone could just give me a simple rundown thatd be great. Thanks!

It's not going to be too hard to come up with a post that is more helpful than mine, but from the little I know... I do know the SK line was cerakoted and at the time it seemed like Guy wad happy with it, and that says a lot. I thought I read somewhere, maybe Facebook, that Guy said the S7 steel in the SK line would start to corrode if you breathe on it. If that is the case and he felt that cerakoting protected the steel, then it must be good. At least better than the coating once used on the GSO line.

This doesn't really answer your question, but hopefully adds a little insight!

I had one of my 3V knives cerok coated and was unimpressed. This was not a big factory/business but rather a small guy. I dont know if the quality would be better. i run it pretty hard though.
I believe peters does a nitrite coating which I may try next. RC 70ish I believe so that should hold up. Any battoning or medium duty seemed to break down the cerok.

Well see i know that the s! Have what is i guess a tumbled finish, and mine is scratched up in a few places and i wasnt sure if the finish or scratches would screw up a cerakote if i decided to get it done. Im not so worried about protection of rust because the 20v is incredible but i prefer a matte finish. Thanks fpr the info so far guys!

Your is 20v? I thought 3V. Ya the coating is not anywhere as tough as the steel as far as stratching. Not matter what steel if you use it outside it will stratch. If you want a matte finish, sand blast it with a light grain or powder. Cover the holes and resharpen. Done.
