I have been seriously pondering taking the fast wearing coating off of my Oberland 01 and ceramic coating the blade. I have several rifles doen with this stuff and it is amazing, wear resistance and finish are great, it has a lower frictional coefficent than teflon, so slicing should improve. Anyone currently doing or done this?

benchmade is putting a poly-ceramic coating on the Ritter Grips M2 blades.
These knives are expected to be out sometime in June. I will be very interested to see how good this coating really is.

BM's new BK-1 coating is a poly-ceramic coating that leaves the blade a flat black in color. I really like this coating.:D :D :D

Probably have to check with Robar or one of the other gun coaters.

Unless you can arrange to get your knife in with a big lot, I suspect that it could be prohibively expensive. I noticed that more than a few of the companies doing the work have stopped offering the service for single specimens. Some gunsmiths will waite till they have enough parts to send them off.

My friend says any time, he does gun parts all the time, and I think it will be tomorrow. Going to take some before and after shots. I won't be able to help him much, just got all of my sinus' removed, so the fumes are a no no. But in the next few expect some pics, BTW it will be free.

Man, you got some friends (with equipment).

I'll waiting for the picts.

Are you going to do some durability tests?

Be nice to see how the specific coating does.

He has the ability of over 2 dozen colors. I'll be putting it thru its paces to see how it holds up between bone, wood, work and everything else I can think of. I will blast it and pay attention to the edge and then coat the blade and bake it. I will have to resharpen the edge a little to get to steel again, but the shouldn't be too bad.
