what feedback can i get on the spyderco fine benchstones?
are they available larger than 8 in.
as far as abrasion what is the ratio [grit size] compared to dmt x-tra fine diamond
would a person benefit from going from ultra fine diamond to fine ceramic
is this a good step before going to diamond stroup
diamond stroup has proved to be good however will the fine ceramic give a more toothy edge. thanks guys as always this old dog appreciates your info.

I've ask and the Spyderco ceramic stones will not be available in larger sizes . However, they are much finer than x-fine diamond . It would be a very good step just before going to a leather strop . I don't think the ceramic would give a toothy edge as its so fine it polishes . But if you like to go extreme and play with fine sharpening its a good stone . DM

Dennis, When I ask it was for the 2.5X11.5" size . Since then I think I've heard that a 3X8" is in the works . Perhaps that will work for you . DM

I love the Spyderco ceramics. I generally go from DMT fine to the ceramic medium then fine. Jumping from dmt to ceramic fine is a little too big a jump for me, YMMV.

I don't know what it is, but the feedback that I get from them is great, much better than most other stones. But it might be my technique, I don't know.

The spyderco benchstones are med 15 microns, fine 6 microns, and uf 3 microns. They work great for finishing low alloy stainless steels leaving a very high polish similar but better than waterstones. The fine is like a 4k waterstone.

Though the ceramics are good for keeping a blade in shape there are aspects of the way they work that have led me to other stones.

I'm another that is a big fan of ceramic and the feedback they give. I use them dry and it is pretty much mess free and if you have done your main grinding with a coarser hone they work fast as well.
