The cheaper ones are coming from china and will work fine as a "gentleman's knife" ie. for opening boxes, cutting string and cutting fruit. I wouldn't count on them for heavy use as the ceramic blades do chip and are almost impossible to self-sharpen. Ceramic knives are purely slicers and do not work well for chopping.

If you get one, you'll probably play with it for a while before going back to regular steel blades.

Even in light use our ceramic kitchen knife developed many small chips. Theoretically you could sharpen one on diamond stones, but the brittleness makes it a major pain to do so.

I have the ceramic Boker Anti-MC and it really only works as a novelty. The ceramic blade is black, which looks very cool; and it is super-sharp+impervious to rust. But the construction quality is poor (unresolvable blade play) and as has been mentioned, ceramic chips very easily. Mine chipped on a fried plantain. :(
Without the blade play it would be suitable for cutting up fruit, or softer food items. They're going to have to find some way of improving on the ceramic if these knives are ever going to be mentioned in the same sentence as "EDC." Until then they'll stay largely relegated to the kitchen.

I was curious as well, and bought one. It seems to work just like any knife, although I don't know what would happen if it were to be dropped with the blade open. Would it shatter? I have no idea.
