Spyderco has also used Carbon Fiber with several different finishes. The shiny, which has been used on the vast majority of CF models, looks great but offers no more traction than metal handles. It does however feel warmer to the touch than they do.
The "peel ply", so far only only offered on the Military, offers an even more agressive surface than G-10, but costs considerably more and does not look much different except under certain lighting conditions. It's way too rough for my tastes, think it would shred pockets even more quickly than G-10. The weight of my CF and G-10 Militarys are within a gram of each other, so I would say it does not offer any weight saving.
The dull, so far only used on some of the C22 Walkers offers the worst of both worlds, providing neither the "gee whiz" look of the shiny or the traction of the peel ply. Unlike matte finish Micarta, which I love because it's easy on the pockets and feels nice and smooth dry but "sticky" when wet, I find the dull CF feels almost as slick as the shiny, wet or dry.
In theory, assuming equal thickness, CF is stronger than G-10, which in turn is stronger than Micarta, but I think on knife handles, that difference is of no consequence, as all are more than strong enough.
