I have two CG ASH-1's, One feels more hefty than the other, so I put them spine to spine, one is about 1/16thof an inch thicker. Anyone else have varied thickness on your CG ASH-1's? I actually like the thicker one better, just feels better and it came with a better edge as well.

As I have learned, That is part of the beauty of Busse you never know what you gonna get. It seems that the stock varies in thickness from time to time and some knives that are supposed to be the same will have different thickness!! I am sure someone with better literacy skills will chime in and tell you without confusing you. I have confused myself now so tim,e to quiote

Thats interesting. What is the actual thickness of the thin one? Can you feel the weight difference?

Yes you can feel the weight difference, I do not have anything to measure the thickness but one is about 1/16th thicker, I do not have an issue with that, almost seems like I have two versions of the same knife. Light Heavy and Heavy Heavy, I love them both just prefer the thicker heavier one the best.

Let me say this: I've never owned two samples of the same exact model of Busse that weren't varying in thickness. At least I think so. :D

There are lots of variations in Busse thickness from the official values. A .20" thick Game Warden can actually be .17". A .25" CGNMFBM can be .22". And a .25" LE NMBFBM can be .28"! You just never know.

I have no idea what causes this huge variation in thickness, but it's kind of interesting, since you never quite know what you're getting. I was positively surprised when one of my GWs was a lot thinner than officially announced, for example. When the NMFBMs were announced, some folks said .25" is too thick for such a long blade. Little did they know that there would be .22" thick NMFBMs out there due to the variation.

What I would be interested in knowing is what causes these variations. Jerry would probably know (unless he was too drunk to reply :D ) and it would be interesting if he could chime in on this.

I think it is simple, they get lenghts of INFI Stock and there is variations in the thickness, why that is I don't know either, speaking of the NMFBM, I think mine is like .24 and it is great, I posted on another thread that I think it could replace a machete. I love the NMFBM, Great Freakin Knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
