CG NMSFNO - Question regarding blade profile

Ok, my bro who just got in the game (and now owns a SAR6SE, Mil Over Run RMD, AND NMSFNOLE #33) has brought to my attention, that I own several great Busse knives, but no NMSFNOs of any variety. I don't know how or why one has eluded me. I don't see myself buying a $700 LE any time soon though. I am however a huge fan of buying cheaper CG knives and then stripping them. (see my stripped CG Boss Jack thread) Ok, stand by for question:

How does the blade profile, grind, etc. differ from the LE to the CG? Are there any other differences, besides the handle slabs?

This was not done by me, but it is a CGNMSFNO. I have not held a LE so I can't help there, but maybe the pictures do.

I believe the main differences are the full convex zero edge instead of v-edge on the LE just like a SAR 4/6/8 and NMFBM LE if I remember correctly and of course no INFI dimples and tigerhide linen. A little lighter than a CG at the same thickness as well.

You can make a CG look and feel very similar to an LE and it makes for a great cheaper user. If you can, try to find one of the thinner NMSFNO cg's with a thickness around .22 as they feel really good in hand and the only one I would have kept. I haven't liked the feel of any of the thicker heavier ones from .23 to .25+.

Wait, let me see if I understand you.
CG = full convex zero edge / LE = V-Edge. CG = Full height grind, no dimples / LE = saber ground with dimples? And of course tigerhide on the LE.

It must not have read the way I thought it would. I meant it the other way around which, with all that extra grinding is how the LE gets lighter at the same thickness and a higher cost. ;) Converting to satin is a lot of work from a CG if the dimples are bad under the coating, but is possible. It winds up looking like this one I bought from a Hog that had done the work already.

All the stripped NMSFNO's I've seen look pretty clean. Most of the blade is convex ground so the rough stuff is mostly long gone. My edge looks like a thick convex rather than a bevel, or the bevel blends really well with the convex grind.

Definitive answer: (now that I've owned both)

LE convex blade profile to a "Zero Edge"- so full convex from spine to tip.

CG convex blade profile to a V-grind edge

I hope this clears things up.

Oh, perfect. Thanks!

Here's my CG that I stripped

It came with a slight factory v grind which I convexed. It did come out pretty clean though, not a even a hint of a dimple.

Nuclear Meltdowns are fun to mess around with when stripped because you hone in your polishing skills when doing all the rounded edges.

As you can see even the skull crusher is clean with no hints of dimples.
