Hey All,

I was searching for some cg v bg comparison pics and found many have been lost to the bucket. Maybe we can use this as a running thread to post pics of the various Infi/sr101 versions of these awesome knives? Unless this thread already exists somewhere, and I missed it, then please disregard.

Boss Jack, Ash, Sfno, Btac, Fsh, Fbm, Ak, etc....

What kind of manic would have both versions?? One of you Hogs I bet :).

Ivehad cg and bg versions of some blades, like the Silent Knight at the moment and Im sure many other hogs do too, and its a fun project comparing them.

However, for me at least, the infiversions just outshine the awesome bg knives, as great as they are, infi is a whole other level of quality. I find myself selling the battle grades every time.

The FBMs are awesome. Both are outstanding performers. I am yet to do a direct A/B comparison with them, but from general use, they seem pretty much the same in the performance dept.

I do like the BG Boss Jack better than the INFI versions. I believe there were a few INFI ones that popped up at the Blade show with the same grind and choil, but not enough of them to count in my book. As far as being on another lever of quality.....I dunno. When INFI is super clean it is super awesome but I've never found inclusions in any of my SR101 and I have in some of my INFI.

"inclusions"?
I had a couple of battle grade ash1. I wound up selling them. and picked up an infi version later on. I don't know what the thickness was of handle or blade, but after I was able to hold the infi version, I think I preferred the bg handle feel.

Rob, that Black micarta looks real nice on that battle grade fbm. Beautiful!!!

Yes. Inclusions. Little air bubble looking things in the steel. Though I wouldn' say it's a common occourance I have found them in a couple of my blades and have seen them on other blade pics posted here.

I'm curious what you mean by "whole other level of quality" can you difinitively say infi is better than sr101 in any way besides its likely softer or more rust resistant?

I guess I'm just on team BG. I don't chop with knives so most of my useful blades are 6" and under. I use my knives for cutting and fire prep. I've had lots of infi blades and I've not seen any advantage besides the satin is pretty.

As far as cutting, toughness and edge retention, I will go with BG all day. I'll still buy infi so I can post pretty pictures but I don't think knives in those sizes and purposes will have any advantage in infi.

Busse doesnt make anything in other than INFI.
all these 'battle grade' knives are just Swamp Rat or scrapyard hardware with the wrong logo and pricing as far as I'm concerned.

When I think of Busse, I think of INFI.
Swamp Rat? Scrapyard? I think of not INFI.
It's a PITA to have to measure spines and consult charts to decide if the stripper you just paid for is actually a tranny Rat instead of some fine, heartland honey.

Yes Yes Yes and Yes!!! Thats exactly what i also think!!!
Busse = Infi
Swamp and Scrap = SR101

Thanks Duramax, the lines on that BG Ash are quite nice.
Thanks
I really like the BG ASH, and like mentioned above. The sr101 is awesome in blades this size and smaller or larger to I guess lol. I will try and post better pics later. Let me know if you want comparison pics , I’ll try and get them.
Only downfall to owning the BG ASHs is my infi ASHs see no love lol.

Is an INFIDU a Busse or a Swamp Rat?

My assessment is entirely subjective based on my experience, I could be wrong but my infi blades resist damage and staining better. Simply, when I beat on both steels in the same way, mostly through chopping wood. Infi stays bright and sharp no matter what I put it through, Sr101 performs just about the same but doesnt wear as well. So if I have two identical blades, one infi and the other Sr101, Im going to prefer the infi every time.

My Infidu says Busse on the blade. Great knife by the way.
Really? I've never seen one like that. I've seen ones with just the all caps INFI logo and I believe I've seen the old style Swamp Rat logo in the oval but one I had wore the all caps SWAMP RAT logo over the INFI logo.
