Chad,

Any thoughts on designing a "super"m-type. By this I mean a heavier knife with a better steel, maybe s30v or comparable. I would love to see this type knife by Boker compete with Zero Tolerance 0200 or the new 0350. I love my M-Type but would also like a Super M.

Make it in s60v, since you guys are already working with that in your shop.

Great idea, boker needs a hard use folder.

Make it S90V, or Damast, since you are already nuts... I mean busy.

Skeletonised liners, Ti-framelock, G10 scale, removable thumbstud (for the well thought German knife law). Make it a Limited Edition, and force CLB to sign each single peace:D

Anyhow, I'm convinced that SubCom/Trance deserve the priority over M, mere a madman's mumble.

EDIT: premium Ti-coating in hot pink/rainbow fits the macho image perfectly.

I really like the S60V idea, maybe keeping the general blade shape of the current M-Type just making the blade closer to .125+ and carrying the thickness closer to the tip. Should be a great heavy duty blade. Ti framelock with larger g-10 handles would defintely be the ticket!

Frankly I think sticking with a good stainless steel over titanium would be better for the framelock, the strength is WORTH the extra weight IMO, and you could still keep it quite slim - which is one of the main appeals of the CLB design folders IMO.

A larger, thicker Trance - better flipper? Perhaps with a inlay on the framelock side ;)?

Out of curiousity... how about a super M-type with a wharncliffe or maybe a Subcom with modified kiridashi blade?

I would like to be able to buy the knife online for a similar price as a ZT 0200 or 0300 model knife depending on configuration (Ti vs. ss, different steels). :D

I would love to see a premium rendition of the Subcom/Wharcom! I'd pay a pretty penny for a Wharcom with a Ti frame lock, metal stud, and premium steel.

Aloha and welcome to the madness boatsman,

Ahhhh, I would love a "beefier" model also...so it can run with the likes of Emerson and Strider...even a ZT for that matter!:D

However, as jujigatame mentioned: price point.

I can modify one of my designs either existing, or my "non-existing" ones ;) into the likes of what you are asking for, but the price would be kinda crazy...I appreciate the fact that there are folks like you and FortyTwoBlades, who'd pay the extra bucks for a "premium" Boker/CLB Design...in fact, I was talking on the phone with Marketing last week regarding a folder done under the Boker logo, as opposed to Boker PLUS...

It'd be an expen$ive project, which would equate to an expen$ive folder...However, it CAN be done. M-Type, and the Trance, one of the SFV's would be my choices for a premium model!!!

God bless and mahalo!!!

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and I must say I'm loving this knife/tool as each day passes! It's a near perfect EDC for me. I'm already thinking of getting another one and have it modified and start a collection of sorts! Chad, this design friggin' rocks!!!!!!

I'm thinking more along the lines of Gen. 2 version rather than a "Super" M-Type. If this concept merits further exploration and viability, here are my humble inputs. I really don't know how much they affect the price point but hopefully not too much -

1. A larger, beefier pivot (as with the Striders). A hard-use tool like this is gonna need a strong pivot since this is a high stress point area.

2. Additional jimping on the "grip points" of the handle itself.

3. No top swedge. Increases it's "tool" attributes.

4. Various G10 handle color offerings. Tan, OD/FG, Blaze Orange, etc.

5. More "rounded" thumbstuds, like on the Direkt. Less obtrusive to cutting and resharpening. Gentler also on bare thumbs.

6. A "Rescue" version with a wharncliffe blade in Yellow G10 handles? (Just thinking out loud :o).

7. Blade steel isn't really an issue for me as long as it's HT'd properly and gives a decent edge which 440C does. This is a "working" tool afterall. No Ti on lock as well. All of these features can help prevent a sharp price increase.

How 'bout it guys? Could you please make the ONE for me? :D:):p;)

1. Trance Wharcom. I know Chad and Pot made variants. Boker needs to jump in and produce these!

2. Limited sprint runs on CLB designs with better steel! Hand numbered by Chad! Signed by Chad! Hand delivered by Chad! Wrapped in nice wrapping paper by Chad!

Dont make us all fly to Germany and picket outside the Boker HQ Marketing!
