Well, I have my first billit of chain damacus welded up, it curently has 4 folds.

How many would you guys recomend to insure no flaws? It feels like a solid block now, but after the trouble I have had with cable I'm not takeing any chances.

I am planing on adding three more folds to make sure everything is mashed up against everything else and to put the last welds on the sides of the edge.

Thanks

William

The more folds the less chain pattern you will have. But the more folds the less big voids you will have also.
I have got to where once I have the links locked together so they won't pop apart I will do all my folding on the edge this way I still get some chain pattern..
Good luck Will
Let's see it when you are done...

Thanks Bruce, I've got 8 layers so far, was planning on forging into a blade when I ran out of propane. I ground the top and there seems to be a few inclusions, not bad just specks. I am hoping they will clear out after forging to shape.

I am considering doing one more weld just to be sure, I'm out of etch so will wait till tomorow and see what the pattern looks like befor welding agian.
