One of my little toys came in today, the pot. I can try it out on my small portable propane stove but that's no fun. I'll wait for my Titanium Emberlit which seems to be propping up a wobbly leg in the Canada Customs poker room. This Fatwood was the last box in a local chain store here. It was around 13-14 bucks. It weighs about 10 pounds or so and is described as 25 cubic feet. It is not the primo U.S. stuff, but the B to B+ stuff from Honduras. Still definately worth getting a box for the low price and large volume of material.

The guy who owns that fatwood company ordered a few bars of soap from me when I first opened up shop. Literally my first customer. How weird is that? :D

Unless that resin-soaked wood (pine?) doesn't catch on fire, I didn't think there's much difference between anything from the USA or Honduras. What makes it lower quality?

"Chain store Fatwood and a Little Pot" - sounds like great title for a book (if i were a writer........).

I've seen the fatwood just as that in stores around me, doesn't seem any worse than what you can find. Nice pot, though.

I've gotten FW from the U.S. that was so resin saturated that it was virtually translucent and smelled powerfully of turpentine. That stuff was like Napalm. I am still happy with the Honduran FW and it is absolutely useful, but I have seen differences.

The fatwood that Bushman5 and Pitdog get up in Canada is the preeemo stuff !

Hmmmm, maybe I was spoiled. I had some FW sent to me from a U.S. member a year or two ago. And man o' man that stuff was the best that I've ever had. Got some good stuff from the west coast up here also.

I think that has to do with the fact that it was a lucky find of super high quality naturally occurring fatwood, rather than commercially farmed, which probably increases consistency but means you're less likely to have a lucky strike like that, which would be more likely to happen in a downed tree.
