Chakram

Nixelplix, a frequent contributor to this very discussion group, does indeed with some success.

With luck, he'll read this in a couple of days and post about his experiences.

Hello! here I am. Watchful, you must be psychic or something. I don't always make it down to the thrower page, but when I saw the title, I couldn't help but look.

Anyway, here's a pic of the chakram I made by cutting off the end of a pipe with 2" thick walls with a bandsaw and sharpening the edges:

Here's a couple of links about chakram:

In the literature I've read, chakrams are either thrown like a frisbee or spun around a finger and then launched at a target. I've found it easier to be more accurate and throw with more force when I hold the chakram vertically and throw it overhand. It seems like one of those weapons that one needs to practice with quite a bit to become proficient-- but you really don't have to think of how many rotations you need to get it to stick!

I can't remember if I asked you this before, but have you tried throwing circular saw blades?

I've thrown them a time or two, but they never seem to stick that well, unless they have long teeth. One time I ground the teeth on a sawblade to make them a little pointier, and that worked much better.

That makes sense. I've found that more teeth and sharp teeth don't necessarily matter--the blade skips up and over the target.

Rip saw blades, with pointier teeth, catch better.
