Took the day off of work today to do a little woods bumming... So I grabbed my little Rossi .22/.410 matched pair and headed to the nearest WMA. in search of rabbits....Didn't turn up any rabbits, But I did kick up a nice ring neck pheasant,,This was my first successfull hunt of the season ( i know I'm a late starter) any how..with the rash of thread we've had lately discussing the .410 I thought I bring this up. the guy flushed at distance of about 10 paces I saw him before he flushed so I was ready...He was dead before he hit the ground.. Now that;s close distance to be sure..but It worked like a charm..using 3 inch # 6's. Left after I cleaned him up, he was a big bird, and I didn;t want to be greedy.
Any how I cleaned him using my standard mora #1 here are some pics
(Camera died half way through..had to wait till I got home to charge it )
here's a lake I encountered,
Here's yours truly
Here's my hunting gear with a pheasant wing
here;s the gear I carryon my person when hunting in a familiar area
Here's whats in the bag..(subject to change depending on weather)
anyway thanks for looking..PRops to the .410 for providing the Mrs and I with dinner this Sun.
