So here's my situation...

So yeah...

1st instinct is that I could throw out the handle and do a paracoard wrap around the tang, but the handle is about an inch bigger to facilitate grip.

2nd instinct is to pour some epoxy glue into the handle and stick the tang into the hole of the handle and let it dry.

3rd flatten and reshape the tang so that I can buy some micarta and fix it together.

4th huck it.

What to do?

1st. Resize pics so that it doesnt take ten minutes to scroll through them
2nd. I would just do the epoxy thing, and round the handle

I personally would go with your 4th instinct "huck" it and buy a new cleaver....unless of course it has sentimental value, if thats the case I would do as nc527 suggests and epoxy it.
You could also drill and pin the handle on in conjunction with the epoxy or make a new handle altogether I suppose it all depends on how much time you wish to invest into it and how much tooling you have.
Good luck whichever way you decide to go with it!

You should grind that rusty tang to clean metal and weld a good tang onto it.Or chunk it.

Wire wheel the rust off the tang, and epoxy the handle back on.
