Here is my entry into the knifemakers challenge over on WSS. It will be judged on bushcraft chores as well as food prep and we had to keep it at aroun a 5 to 5 1/2" blade. I might have thought about the design a little too hard but wanted to try something different. I angled the edge between a chef knife and basic woods knife so that you could rock the blade for food prep without hitting your knuckles. It might fail miserably but it was fun!

That is bad ass man! Perfect combo of woods and kitchen, do it all camper knife right there. Let me know when I should send payment! Haha ;)

The fact that you dropped the front of the scales all the way to the bottom edge of the blade is gonna be HUGE in the comfort arena!!! That's one part of the handle I wish more makers would not cut short. Looks like a well thought out design to me!

I think You'll do well in the comp!!! Good Luck Chris!!!

Chris
That is awesome work! Well thought out and really good lines. Have you seen Matt's entry?

Thanks guys, nope haven't seen Matts yet.

real nice Chris. love the blade shape. and, based on your description, the grind sounds perfect.

i hope to be able to watch them in-action. we'll see.

Chris, really like the way those scales finished out with that grain pattern & that dark wood. And I have to agree w/ Stump, that little bit of extra work to get the wood down on the steel would definitely be more comfortable, but also maybe add just a little bit more "grip" in case of a slip (the rhyme is completely unintentional).
Good luck in the contest, & that knife does not have "failure" anywhere on it . . . .
Be safe.
P.S.: And if by chance this "user" comes up for sale after the contest, the Buckeye state would definitely be interested in it . . . . ;)

Dude, that is completely sick looking. Probably my favorite made by you yet. Really nice looking blade. Handle contours look killer.

Simply awesome work Chris. I'm waiting to hear from Matt about his entry. Can't wait to see it. I think he's keeping the world guessing!

He probably hasn't even started it yet!

I really like that design! I have the bk15 to act as a do all camp/cooking knife, but you've done this with some major class!

really like the idea on the design of the blade shape, and the overall ascetics are just top notch :)

good luck in the contest
