This is the Ace Chameleon proto#2. The only real difference from Proto#1 is the structural bridge is made from 6AL4V Titanium that is annodized and has my heavy nugget engraving..Hope you like it!

OAL 5 3/8"
Removable ace push knife.
1/4" Orange G10 frame.
Heat colored pins in 440C and 18-8 matching screws.

I really like the idea, and the colours are astonishing, however, I'd make the orange handle a little wider, to be in line with the end of the finger choil, that little tail-like thing.

Thanks, and since we are in the prototyping stage, I can make you one that way! But, It does fit comfortably between the fingers and you almost can't tell its even there, especially when held in the pistol grip with the thumb up top ! I have calculated the width from the average anatomical bone structure to fit the grip in several ways...the sloping back facilitates the rotational grip changes, but we don't want to get into the complex math I used to engineer it. 2+2= uhhh! I can never get that one right...:D Once you handle one...you might even like it!

Very cool. This might seem like a dumb question but is it a fixed blade or a folder. I seems fixed but looks like it has the parts of a folder????

It's a fixed blade for now, and I have had the plans for the folder version drawn up from the beginning. My original plan was three stages starting with the Ace. Then stage two would be the utility handle that could be purchased complete, or if a guy had bought the Ace before, as an addition. The folder would come complete, and have a pocket clip, But would have the sheath for the Ace to be carried as a neck knife.

Here is the thread for the stage 1 Ace .

I should mention that one of this designs strong points is, it can be purchased in 2 stages. This is for the guy that can't offord it all at once. He can get the Ace that he can afford now, and later add the handle, breaking it into two more affordable payments, but getting to use the Ace right away!

This is a very cool concept and I've been watching it closely (albeit silently until now). Maybe this is heresy but with the handle it looks like it would make a great utility knife. Something you could use all day long with minimal fatigue due to the shape.

I'm looking forward to seeing the folder version. I'd also be interested to see a take-down method that doesn't employ screws--something that can be done without tools. Probably a tall order though. I'm no mechanical genius but I can't think of a way it could be done.

Aron,
Thank you,

You may not be a mechanical genious, but you can see the need, as did I...and I have allready planned ahead to the tool-less version that will be incorperated into the Ace Cameleon Proto#3. I think you will like it!

Proto #2 was a big hit at the show and sold this weekend to pave the way for the evolution to continue.
