Steve Johnson is donating a knife for the Special Olympics. If you admire his work, this is a chance to get one for probably less than what it would cost to order one. Email him directly to bid: srj@manti.com

"This knife is available during a silent auction and all proceeds from the sale will go to the Special Olympics. Larry Nordell, who is in charge of the fund raising for this event, has made this facility, #3 in amount donated to the Special Olympics in the state of Utah. This little trout/paring knife, depending on how you look at it, is made with an ATS-34 stainless steel blade, stainless tubes for fasteners and "bone-stag" handles. the first handle of this material I've ever used. I kind of like it!

The beautiful brain tanned and beaded sheath is donated by Nathan Buckman, a fellow teacher, here at the Central Utah Correctional Facility. He tanned the leather and did the beadwork himself. This includes the rawhide lining inside the sheath. I hope we can get a good price for this worthy cause."

Wow. I have volunteered as a worker to help with Special Olympics on several occasions, and have been an admirer of SRJ's work for a long time. With a great cause like this, and a wonderful maker like SRJ, I couldn't help but send in a bid.

Gabe Newell offers $650.00 to Special Olympics

I just received this note from Central Utah Correctional Facility and thought it should be passed along to you guys who've been so supportive:

"As the Administrator at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in charge of Corrections Week, I would just like to say thank you, once again, for your donation. I have been looking at your forum and how folks from all over the country have... bid over the internet... It has been a great year for Larry and Special Olympics, ...and please pass on CUCF's thanks to your bidders. Randy"

As you can see, your interest and generosity toward this great cause is certainly appreciated!

And thank you, for the kind note, Randy.

Well, Gabe Newell so generouisly made the highest offer at $650.

Then...........when notified to send the check, for that amount, written out to "Specail Olympics," he went ahead and rounded it up ot $1000.00.

There is EXCITEMENT here in So-Central Utah, let me tell you!

That is so great! Thank you Gabe!

Sincerely,

Larry, Nathan, Randy, Steve, and the Education Dept. and staff, here at CUCF.......... and ........all the great kids that this marvellous donation will benefit!

If you think that I used a large number of excalmation points, you're right!
