Change in Knifemakers Gallery Responses?

As gas and associated costs rise, people are drawing back from spending personal items. The reason I asked this question is I've noticed a very dramatic change in the way people respond to postings in the Knifemakers Gallery. It used to be a guy would post a knife, and knifemakers and a few devotees would comment. Now, two or three hundred people may view your knife and you will get three or four responses. take a look, you'll see what I mean. What's changed, if anything?

I made a knife and posted it. Only got a couple comments. I figured that's just the way it is, unless you've made a few hundred or the knife is really outstanding. I would have expected at least a couple saying that this was too long or short, this angle was off, or something. Are you saying there used to be more or fewer comments?

Hi Zaph,

Well, it is supposed to be a gallery for knifemakers to view each other's work, and I'm just guessing here, but there seems to be a lot of non-makers dropping in, taking a quick look, and departing without saying anything; and that's fine. But yes, as I recall, we used to get a much heathier response to posted knives from other makers. Maybe the gallery is becoming less popular. Anyway, I could be wrong, which is why I asked the question.

I think people simply spend less time online and more at work to provide for their families. They look briefly and do not bother to comment.

I am a big time lookie loo in there. I do not comment unless something really jumps out at me. Also I do not have much experience to reply when the OP asks for critiques, or advise.
