I just lost my 8th package to shipping over the Border to Canada via USPS Priority Mail.

I have never lost a package shipping Express Mail with tracking.

So, from today forward, I will only ship USPS Express International to Canada (unfortunately at a much higher rate).

I have sent probably 50 or so knives "up north" with no problems....but after losing now over $1000 in knives that I have had to replace....it's not worth it anymore.

I apologize to my Canadian customers for having to go this route.

The Good News is that there will no longer be any more lost shipments.

Dan

The crazy part is that I once had a package go to Luxembourg by mistake, then France, then come back to me because of inability to deliver...then I sent it back and he still got it AOK. Took 4 months, but no damage, not even slight wear on the box.

I have sent packages all over the world, including some remote places without hardly a hitch.

But for some reason, the border up north is Confiscation Central.

I mark them as 'gifts' with a low value and write "camp tool" or "garden tool" on there.

Doesn't seem to matter...I still get pacakages "lost" in the mail.

It is very irritating. Fortunately I have been able replace every knife that went missing....so my Canadian customers are still happy...my wallet isn't too happy. :(

Like I said...it baffles the mind.

Is my address "flagged" somehow?

"Open anything from Bentonville, AR.....gots good stuff in it!"

?!?!??

Dan

Because someone will ask....

Yes, that includes shipments already paid for that haven't shipped....I will no longer be sending anything to Canada unless it is sent via USPS Express International.

Takes about the same time, but is "certified" at its stopping points and can be traced.

Dan

Why mark them as gifts or garden tools? Canada is pretty good about knives unless they are push daggers. I've never had any trouble shipping them marked "knife" I'm just wondering if the vague description is raising flags. I think the post system in general is having issues recently and not just Canada. ;)

Did you ever see the post where Norm's HI sword was folded in half by the Canadian Post? Pretty amazing, I wonder if he ever got his money for it.

crazy...!!!!

I've had a lot of successful shipments to Canada...so it's not like they are all getting lost.

It's just that shipping to Canada is the only place where I have had anything get lost.

:(

I mark all international shipments as gifts and 'tools'...and it works perfectly.

Just not to Canada via Priority mail.

*shrug*

Dan,
I'm #27 on the list for a Monster Nessie and live in Canada. What is the total for the additional cost? By the way how are you coming along with the Monster Nessie list?

I doubt the knives are being confiscated. If Customs confiscates, they notify the addressee. These are being stolen.

Good news is it's not UPS :D

OR Fedex ground, while in thier care, someone stepped on a box containing a Leupold scope. There was no insurance and the driver said it was fine when he put the box marked fragile at my door.

Leupold fix the scope after the seller gave them a call.

Esav - I don't want to make any accusations..but yes, that is my suspicion. :( :grumpy: :o

OK you can send it, I have sent you the money by Paypal this morning everything should be OK.

Merry Christmas by the way.... and a happy prosperous year Dan.

Some of the things Customs and Canada Post are allowed to do are pretty crazy. They can and do open random packages for no reason; I've received several packages that have been opened and inspected by canada suxtoms. Letters they have to ask the recipient for permission to open or they can just destroy it if they decide they don't want you to receive it. Was Hitler in power in Canada at some point or what? Pretty F^&%ED up!
