Change thumbstud?

Is it possible at all to change the thumbstuds on a Kershaw Skyline? The thumbstuds on this knife act mainly as blade stoppers, not really for deployment of the blade. I was wondering if anyone knew a way I could put thumbstuds that are longer/raised higher off the blade. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm pretty new.

I don't have a Skyline, but if the stud is detachable, then all you'll need is a stud with the same screw size so it doesn't wobble in the hole.

It shouldn't be a problem.

I would think the dimensions would need to be exact to the OEM for the lock to operate properly. Maybe not.

what if I were to contact the manufacturer, do you think they'd be willing to help me even if I said I didn't care about voiding the warranty?

Kershaw has always seemed more then willing to help.

Plus Thomas W. is an executive at Kershaw and a member on BFC

The new thumbstuds would have to be the exact dimension as the old and would have to be placed in the identical spot as the old. Otherwise the lock will not operate correctly, and you will have a knife that; a) doesn't lockup at all, or b) a lock that that has a lot of vertical blade play.

The Skyline is meant to be a flipper knife. With your question I am assuming that you want the ability to open the knife using a thumbstud. The only thing you could do that would be simple, would be to put a "one-handed bandit on the blade.
