Any of you rightys prefer LH models?

The deployment is more different than you'd expect...but in a good way, IMHO!

My friend let me carry his small 21 to try out since I told him I was thinking of purchasing one....the only catch, he's a Southpaw & so's his 21...

Well, I clipped it in my RH watch pocket <so it still rode tip up ;)> and I was pleasantly surprised how natural the draw, open, & close felt to me being a Right Hander ...

Just wanted to know if anyone else here has experienced the same thing...

So go easy on me if you think it's a dumb question :o, I'm a Spyderco & Busse guy and I just bought my first 25 here a couple weeks back and I love it...:)

I bought a large regular lefty once. It is pretty easy to manipulate being a righty. It's just different is all.

I have thought often about getting a left handed one for my other pocket. Still might at some point.

I am right handed but since childhood always carried my pocket knife in my left pocket. I could always work my knives with either right or left hands. This is even before the days of thumb studs or spyderco holes. CRK's though are more one sided. Even my Inkosi with dual thumb studs is somewhat hard to open in the off hand. Some times I can do it and sometimes I have to start with a pinch grip to start the rotation and then finish with my left thumb. There is just not enough clearance to hit the stud well on the lock side for me to be 100% on lock side opening. So now I have a left handed small 21 in my left pocket and a right handed Inkosi in my right pocket. Unlocking I can do right handed or left handed on any of my CRK's. For left hand unlocking I like my right handed models better. For right hand unlocking it makes no difference at all.

Here is the big issue with carrying on tip up carry the blade spine should be against the seam of the pocket to keep it from opening in your pocket. Putting a knife with the clip setup for a right pocket in your left pocket it can open. I have had it happen to me several times. Its not fun getting it out of you pocket with out getting cut or jabbed in the leg with the point. If the knife is tip down carry it really does not make any difference to which side you carry it on.

Since CRK's are not assisted they are not at as much risk for opening in pocket, but Chris Reeve himself has said he does no like double thumb lugs since they can catch on the pocket and open.

I have no feelings of risk clipping my Ti-Lock or my Mnandi in my left hand pockets. I don't thing there is any real chance of them opening on their own. On my Inkosi or Sebenza not sure about wrong side clipped carry.

I think I will send my lefty sebenza 21 insingo and my righty Sebenza snakewood for dual studs. Its good to have even if the lock side is harder to use.

How did you right hand open the left handed stud? If it was dual stud did the regulars have more lock side clearance then the 21's do? Actually my only dual stud CRK is my Inkosi. It just does not look like the my 21's have more clearance then the Inkosi. Mine 21's just don't have dual studs to try yet.

I could "pinch" the studs on both sides with the tip of my index finger & thumb, break the detent & then I had enough clearance to open conventionally...very fluid easy opening...but I did have to be "mindful" of how to grip it just right to get correct finger placement...thanks for everyone's feedback!

By using the opposite hand you aren't putting any pressure on the lockbar too, so it does seem easier to open. But I agree with Driften, I definitely prefer to have the spine against the seam of my pants.
